Kohler 9 KVA Generator 9EFOZD
We chose the Kohler 9 KVA because it was water cooled, quiet and 1500 revs to give a long life (we hope). We thought the 9 Kva would give us enough power to cope with charging the large battery bank (at approx 3.2KW) while also running all the domestics. We didn't want such a big generator that it would be running at low capacity through its life. We tend to run it at 50% to 75% of its capacity which we think is about right. It is mounted on a dexian shelf in the engine room and seems pretty quiet, but I would put it on heavier gauge bed if I had the choice again so that the small vibrations we feel through the boat would be less. You can hardly hear it when outside the barge, just the cooling water splashing.
